Are you interested in boosting your home’s energy efficiency in Canton and throughout Northeast Ohio? You’re in luck! The 25C Tax Credit, which has been available since January 1, 2023, presents an excellent opportunity for savings, with potential benefits of up to $3,200. Let’s explore how you can unlock these valuable savings and enhance your home’s energy performance.

What is the 25C Tax Credit?

In August 2022, the U.S. government implemented the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) as part of its strategy to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40% before 2030. As a result, the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit (25C) has become instrumental in achieving this goal.Mascot

Now’s the ideal time to take advantage of energy-saving upgrades. Here at Beck Electric, Generators & Plumbing, we’re dedicated to assisting you every step of the way, providing expert guidance and reliable services to ensure you make the most of this valuable tax credit.

    What Qualifies for This Credit?

Wondering what improvements qualify for the 25C Tax Credit?
    • Insulation and air sealing (weatherization)
    • Energy-efficient windows and doors
    • Water heating systems
    • Energy audits

You’ve got some great options with residential efficiency and electrification upgrades! For heat pump water heaters, you’re eligible for a yearly credit limit of $2,000. Other upgrades are capped at $1,200, with potential limits per upgrade.

The credit covers both purchase and installation costs for heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and panel upgrades. Just keep in mind that for other listed upgrades, only the purchase costs are covered.

Your upgrades need to meet efficiency requirements to qualify. Plus, you can get up to $600 for electrical panel upgrades installed alongside heat pumps or heat pump water heaters. This credit resets annually, but it’s nonrefundable, so make sure you’ve got enough tax liability to make the most of it.

Am I Eligible for This Credit?

To qualify for the energy-efficient home improvement credit, your improvements must be made to your primary residence within the United States, and your home should be an existing property undergoing improvements. Unfortunately, landlords or property owners who don’t reside in the home are ineligible to claim the credit.
